1 Barrel 1 Tree

1 Barrel 1 Tree Project started with the protocol signed with the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization in 3 September 2010.

After the preparation of project images and promotional materials, with the approval of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, “1 Barrel 1 Tree Project” was announced to the public with 6 September 2010 dated press release.

1 Barrel 1 Tree Project put into practice for the purpose of increasing the environmental benefit of waste oil collection, by planting a sapling for each barrel of waste oil collected from public institutions, the following targets are aimed:

  • Registering more waste motor oil by increasing the support from public institutions to the project,
  • Protection of environment and human health,
  • Raising awareness in the society towards the damages of waste motor oil,
  • Contributing to the efforts to prevent illegal practices and unrecorded activities under the title of number 10 oil and similar ones.

The project, implemented with the cooperation between PETDER with the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, and the Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs, includes planting a sapling for each barrel waste motor oil collected from all government agencies across the country (public institutions, armed forces, municipalities) by taking services to them free of charge with licenced transportation vehicles.

 

With this project, financed by PETDER, “by planting a sapling in return for each one barrel of waste motor oil collected from the public institutions”, in return for the waste motor oil collected in three years, in total 71.500 saplings have been planted, 15.000 of which from 2014. This number will continue to increase.
